After trying and failing to make it work whilst researching my last post, I refused to be beaten by the Pediasure app, soI unleashed my inner detective and, one new facebook account later, I'm in. What a shocker - everything leads either to a link to the Pediasure website or an opportunity to get a free sample of (you've guessed it) a Pediasure shake. By answering three utterly simplistic questions, I was told what kind of picky eater I have. After a snatch of catchy music, I had to select what kind of food they don't like, with no option to select from more than one food group. Then I was asked how they react at mealtimes. Finally I was asked how much they consume. Here's some answers I chose at random: I said that my picky eater dislikes vegetables and fruits. Next, I selected answer 'C' - they refuse food because of past traumatic events. Finally, in answer to how much they consume, I selected 'refuses to eat'. So this is how they diagnosed my imaginary child: "Distract-eater"
Your distract-eater simply prefers to play or talk during mealtimes than eating. He usually refuses to sit down at the dining table with other family members or hardly touches his food. You can help your distract-eater to respect mealtimes by keep away all the toys, electronic gadgets and entertainment devices ie. TV or radio. Encourage him to settle down and focus on enjoying his yummy food.
Wow - this is scary. This imagined chronic food refuser who has a history of trauma just needs to turn off the TV. Or alternatively, stock up on Pediasure.
